In the research area of product perception, there has been an increase in focus on the importance of tactile/haptic characteristics. Tactile/haptic stimuli are percieved through the sense of touch and can, when done right, contribute to giving a product "the right feel".
In cases where the end-user touches a product for e.g. accessing operational features, the tactile/haptic features communicates a variety of aspects regarding the overall product quality.
At DELTA SenseLab we apply a range of methods from sensory evaluation to the area of assessing tactile/haptic aspects of a given product. This provides us with the oppotunity to gain knowledge about which tactile/haptic sensory characteristics are perceived as being important by the end-user - valuable information that can be applied in improving products. Recently we did an exploratory study on perception of digital camera zoom functions, which in summary form, can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
If you are interested in learning more about your product's tactile/haptic characterics please contact us for an informal discussion.
