The Aarhus University - Institute of Business and Technology (AU-IBT) and DELTA have jointly developed a foundation course in EMC which has both a theoretical and a practical approach.

Learn the fundamental principles

You will acquire a broad knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of EMC.

You will learn basic EMC theory related to practical PCBs and devices. The various electrical noise phenomena are covered, demonstrated and measured.

Electrical noise costs money

EMC problems are the cause of many disturbances to the operation of electronic devices. Often, time to market is greatly extended as a result of EMC problems in the final testing phase. All of these EMC problems often lead to major financial costs.

EMC problems can be avoided

Many EMC problems can be avoided altogether if designers, on the basis of a basic knowledge of EMC, manage the work on EMC throughout the whole course of development.

The electromagnetic environment

A run through is given of the electromagnetic environment:

What transients and electromagnetic fields exist?
How do the phenomena arise?
How do the phenomena affect devices containing electronics?

EMC Design details are covered

A wide range of design details are covered which are of significance to the EMC in a device.

DELTA has carried out countless EMC tests where products have failed, and in this situation the course trainers have helped many manufacturers to make the necessary modifications.

The most common design errors are pointed out on the course.

Sources of interference and connection paths
Basic rules for noise suppression, including shielding
EMC correct design, immunity and radiation
Device design, including earth path philosophies

The course is based on the book, "Fundamental EMC 1 - Phenomena and Design Principles", which is used at all institutes of engineering in Denmark. The book will be handed out to delegates.
