Why re-test the product?

EMC verification of the new design provides certainty that it meets your customers' expectations and legislative requirements.

The purpose of the EMC verification is to establish whether the new design continues to fulfil the EMC requirements, with a view to later markings and market access.

When changing the design, whether this takes the form of:

• a new choice of material
• new components
• specific modifications

you should be aware that the equipment's EMC characteristics can change significantly.

In the worst case, you can no longer depend on the testing and validation carried out in connection with the old design.

Types of changes

The redesigning of existing products can include many aspects. Examples that can be mentioned are:

• CPU & memory
• Switch from leaded to surface-mount components (SMD/SMT)
• New technology and new functions, e.g. wireless communication
• Faster circuits

DELTA's specialist will work with you to put together a test plan that will contain various emission and immunity parameters.

Scope of test

The scope of the test will depend on the changes carried out and thus the requirement for testing.

The specialist will use DELTA's experience in EMC design as well as the experiences from the many EMC tests DELTA has carried out over the past 65 years as ammunition in assessing the scope of the test.

DELTA follows EMC standardisation closely and uses a lot of resources in participating in work towards international standardisation. We are therefore always up-to-date as to which tests and requirements are on the way even before the standards have been published.
