Noise from industry

Noise predictions can avoid problems with neighbours and authorities

Aku - Noise measurement on roof of a company

When expanding or building new industrial plants, there are requirements, approvals and expectations to meet.

Approval from the environmental authorities and the neighbour expectations are very important issues when it comes to noise. You'll need to know these and take it into account to avoid complaints once the construction work is complete.

Know the consequences before you build

Noise prediction tools enable you to know the consequences of noise long before the first brick has been laid. Many problems can be avoided in the planning phase i.e. by sensible location of buildings, installations and by taking requirements regarding noise from ventilation and cooling systems into account. The noise from current and future production sheets can be calculated, including the company's transport. If it turns out that the noise limits are exceeded, the required noise reduction can be estimated in advance.

Planning and design

The noise prediction tool can also be used to design the company's own buildings in order to shield noise sources in such a way that it doesn't propagate to surrounding areas. If such surveys are not carried out, it is both expensive, difficult - and in some cases simply impossible - to reduce the noise from the industry to meet the noise requirements.

DELTA's services support you all the way

  • Measurement of noise from industrial noise sources
  • Mapping of noise in the surroundings
  • Advice on noise reduction
  • Documentation on noise conditions e.g. accredited reports
  • Design of noise action plans

We know what we are talking about

DELTA has 40 years' experience in acoustics, noise and vibration. DELTA's accreditations cover the measurement, calculation and reporting on noise from industries. This means that our reports can be a part of the authorities' administrative procedures in approvals, planning, etc. Our 40 years' experience in measuring and calculating noise has given us extensive knowledge of effective means of avoiding noise problems with neighbours.

Arla and noise reduction

When the dairywork Arla drew up its plan for the future of 2020 and the company's production planted at Holstebro it became clear that the increase in production would entail an increase in traffic at the company's area and thus more noise emission to the surroundings. DELTA made a noise map of the activities and examined the logistics of the numerous lorries carrying milk and finished products. The noise model made it possible to carry out tests with alternative lorry routes, using the company's own buildings to shield the most noise-sensitive neighbourhood areas from the noise. In addition, noise barriers were raised in those places where the buildings did not shield the noise from the lorries. Thus it was possible to increase the transportation without exceeding the noise limits.
